Primary Research - It's amazing what you can find in Sheffield...

A stroll around Sheffield with a bog standard camera was an exercise i thoroughly enjoyed. It was nice to look at things at a different perspective in which we mostly take for granted. Like for example, I didn't realise how much Sheffield dedicates itself in its architecture and history of it's steel business until I had a good look around simply pointing and shooting. Here are some of my favourites...

13th Floor of Owen Building looking down and down and down....

You can clearly see the structured spirally effect similar to sea shells though.
Here's a shot of the central library's staircase distracted by some lovely artwork by Seiko Kinoshita which is called Blue Bird (2007). The way shes created the birds is from Paper Yarn and it gives a very organic and interest effect in which how they all slowly move through the air...

Now, it wouldn't be right not grabbing some primary research from Winter Gardens. It's got a whole array from repeating patterns and reflections from its bespoke metalwork water sculptures to all them weird random and wonderful plants around us today.

Pattern and Repetition expressed throughout naturally...

??? Isn't it great when nature and man made products bond together...

Some serious repeating and reflecting effects going on here from the architectures....

This photo was taken at the Sheffield museum gallery showing off some of its metal skills. I absolutely love it. Here's a clear example of how the insides remind you of an ancient fossil as well as some seriously cool paper pleating. It wouldn't surprise me if Richard Sweeney was inspired from looking at some of this stuff.
